http://ubuntuforums.org – Dear All, I am trying to do a update on my Ubuntu 11.10 and get the following error. E: Unable to parse package file /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-security_universe_i18n_Index (1) I have tried several things like 1. the solution from https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu...uestion/207473 2. Removing /var/lib/apt/lists/partial 3. Removing /var/lib/apt/lists 4. Changing the sever ... but none of them have worked. Any pointers as to how this problem can be solved. I unable to run Ubuntu software center in ubuntu 12.04. It does close suddenly.Unable to send a bug report even.I'm new to Ubuntu.My system is 64 bit OS.Please guide me to do it. I tried to follow your following answers,

I have Ubuntu 12.04 x64. I have been trying to install Wine to no avail. I entered a question on Launchpad and received some suggestions. It seems that whoever was trying to help me assumed I had been successful. I went back to Launchpad and said the issue was not resolved.

I tried sudo apt-get update && apt-cache search b43 sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer after that i get this error Can't update, Some index files failed to download i tried cd /var/lib/apt/lists/partial sudo rm gb.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_multivers e_source_Sources

OR

sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/gb.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_multivers e_source_S

It's the first time that I use ubuntu and I can't use the ubuntu software manager, when I type update codes in terminal it shows this error

I am having some difficulty installing Asterisk on a 64bit Server. I get the following error and cant seem to find help about this.

So I just installed the ubuntu 11.10 ..

'sudo apt-get update' with the following error, unable to upate system...
