Just now I have installed 9.04 in my Lenovo z570. I am new to Ubuntu. By searching on various community, I come to know that I need to install wifi drivers to make wifi run because the output of lshw -c network shows that wireless drivers are unclaimed and output of iwconfig shows No wireless extensions.
I am relatively new to Linux and have been trying to use Backtrack 5 but it doesnt detect my wireless card so I cant connect to any wireless networks, I am using a Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC wireless card. I was wondering is there anything I can do like download drivers/patches etc. to make my internal wireless card work, or will I have to buy an external USB wifi adapter.
when i restart my Dell inspiron 5010 it do not detects the wifi drivers and the hotkey for turning the wifi card on is not working either. I am using proprietary drivers "Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA Wireless driver source from bcmwl-kernel-source (proprietary)".
I need to click and apply "Do not Use the device" and then switch back to the proprietary driver.
I recently got myself a new HP Pavilion dm4-2102eo with a built-in Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 WiFi adapter. After messing a bit around with the partitions on the hard drive, I finally got to install the latest version of Ubuntu (12.04), now running a dualboot setup with the pre-installed Windows 7 (using GRUB).
i downloaded the ubuntu live cd to install ubuntu and replace windows vista but i ran into a snag this time. the live cd didn't pick up a wireless signal at (only ethernet) and i wasn't able to connect to my wireless home network. i'm a total linux and CLI noob... but i would appreciate any help to install the missing driver since to resolve this driver issue.
Like it says in the title. I would like to know if Joli OS can use Ralink RT5390 wifi drivers straight out of the box. Last year I tried the operating system and it didn't come with the wireless drivers. However, they work with Ubuntu 12-13. Has JoliOS been upgraded since last year to support this wireless card?
I am new to Ubuntu and want to get my graphics card and wireless connection up an running. When I do system-admin-hardware drivers it gives me the option of a number of different drivers and I wanted to know which ones to install. I wasn't sure whether I needed to install all of them or not and whether wrongly installing one might cause me more trouble in the future...
