Hi there.
Before installing Ubuntu 11.10, I had 2 partitions in Windows, the second of which I split into 2, the second of which was used for the Ubuntu installation.
However once the Ubuntu installation completed, I could no longer boot into Windows 7, every time I chose the option, the computer would restart and bring me back to the Grub menu.
Hello, I want to replace my (slightly broken due to my carelessness) Ubuntu installation with Arch Linux. I already have a functioning dual-boot configuration, with GRUB installed, so I figured that I may not need to perform all the steps detailed on various tutorials for setting up an Arch+Win7 dual-boot configuration, such as partitioning and installing GRUB.
Hi all,I hope this is the right section and the thread title is explicative enough, however, this is where I may use some help:I've got a slightly complicated set-up with two hard disks, one has a dual-boot Ubuntu 10.04/win 7 installation, the other a tri-boot Ubuntu 10.04/Mint12/Mint Debian installation, this was the last one to be added and has all its partitions ( /root and /home for all three syste
This is my situation:
I Installed Ubuntu without a CD (using A USB)
Dual boot installation (Windows 7+Ubuntu)
I did not like the installation and decided to boot into Windows and delete the Linux partitions, but I forgot to fix the mbr from within Windows.
Now, when I boot, I am stuck in the GRUB rescue limbo.
How can I boot into Windows from GRUB rescue?
I cannot boot from CD because I don't
I had just finished my setup for dual boot, everything went fine but I lost my ubuntu:

Install Windows and configure C:/ for The system and D:/ For documents (FINE)

Reinstall windows on the C: test, if I ever need to do that, FAILED, now I just have Windows on the boot, I lost
Hi there,
Complete beginner with Linux here who recently dual-booted Windows 7 with Ubuntu on two hard drives (one solely for windows, one for Ubuntu).
My boot priority is set to
(1) HDD with windows
(2) HDD with Ubuntu & partitions.
I need help with the installation process .i have been trying to install it for a while now and have failed to so twice so every time I switch my pc on it gives a menu form where i have to select the windows in the menu there is windows 7 and two ubuntu choices which if i select gives a screen showing some error.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a single disc which already had Windows 7 x64 on it. Windows was on two primary partitions, a very large partition C: and a small 100 mb partition. I've been using this computer for the past year with no problems.
During the installation of Ubuntu, I made four partitions: 1) /boot, 2)/(root), 3)/home and 4) SWAP.
Hi guys! i'm sorry if the post sounds reiterative, it's just that i've seen so many workarounds to my problem that i'm not really sure which one will work in my case.
This is the scenario:
1. I accidentally erased one partition in my hdd.
