I searched for an answer, but was unable to find...
1. I have little knowledge of Ubuntu, I am using 12.10 (I tried Ubuntu several years ago).
2. I built a computer, ufei bios, multiple hard drives, SSD and two sata 6. Windows 7 is on the SSD, (drive C:), Ubuntu is on a sata 6 (drive F:).
When I installed Ubuntu onto my second harddrive, that had Crunchbang on it, I overwrote Crunchbang and could no longer boot my machine.
So, Boot Repair Disk to the rescue...AND I got Windows back up and booting, but without a dual-boot.
How do I get Ubuntu back into the boot-up list?
Do I wipe the Ubuntu drive and start over?
Hi, can someone help me install a dual boot for windows 7 and ubuntu. I've installed Win7 and I've installed ubuntu and made a /boot, /home, /root, and swap partitions. The /boot is a primary partition and the rest is logical. I set the device boot loader to /boot and when I restart I get a error grub rescue message.
am i supposed to set the device boot loader to /dev/sda or sda3?
Ok so I'm having a bit of trouble.
I have installed Ubuntu on my hard drive first and then partitioned and installed Windows 7.
I installed Ubuntu today for the first time on a Dell desktop running Windows XP sp3.
I opted to install on a second hard drive, following these instructions:
http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2012/07/23/dual-boot-ubuntu-12-04-and-windows-...
When I reboot my computer, and enter the boot sequence menu in BIOS, there isn't even an entry for my second hard drive.

I have an Asus Utrabook (UX31A) that has Windows 7 Home installed.
I installed Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal) from USB, to work with dual boot.
I formerly had windows 7 without ubuntu. Now I upgraded it to windows 8..then I installed ubuntu 12.10 with live disk.
After installing it runs ok and I see a dual boot option in grub menu. Now sometimes I log in to windows 8 for some tasks.
I'm trying to dual boot Ubuntu 12.04 on my Macbook(which is a Mid 2007 model with Intel Core 2 dual and currently running Lion).
