http://ubuntuforums.org – I recently installed cairo dock, and I love it. However, I miss my universal dock. Is there anyway I can get the Universal dock and cairo dock without the pesky unity dock on the side? I would prefer to keep the interface that opens with the windows key, but that seems to rely on the unity dock, and is optional. tl;dr I want the Universal dock and the cairo dock without the unity dock (Hardware)

okay guys with all the fuse about unity being this and that blah blah of which I find it cruel as unity is great. so at this point I decided to use Cairo dock as a DE just to give myself an alternative...

I'm trying to use gnome-shell with cairo dock in ubuntu 12.04, but there is one problem, I want to have some kind of menu in cairo dock. The thing is, non of the menus I tried work in cairo dock. I tried mintmenu, gnomenu, cardapio, all of them show up in cairo dock, but then I press them, nothing happens. It just killing me. Thank you for your help.

1. How can one remove the default launcher on the left side?

2. When I reboot the bottom dock has to be launched from the side panel?

To clarify precisely what I mean, which Dock can I use by itself, no need for the Unity Shell, while still retaining the unity panel. Additionally, which Dock is the most customisable in its appearance?
