I just installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu 12.04, and before I installed drivers, I was able to get my two monitor setup working just fine. However, after updating all my drivers and installing all the recommended software, my second display is no longer detected. My main display is called "Laptop" (which it was detected as the monitor name previously), but it is the only display listed.
I have a laptop with a docking station that has a large monitor connected to it. When the laptop is docked, I use the monitor as my primary display, and the laptop screen as a secondary display.
When I undock, the laptop screen becomes my primary display, and all the windows move over to it.
hello all,
i have a problem with ubuntu 9.10 on my thinkpad r61 lenovo laptop.
I've been running Ubuntu 11.10 for a while on my laptop with no problem but after the latest update yesterday (about 6 updates from memory) this morning my laptop screen won't display anything.
I'm running 12.10 on a dell e5400 laptop and I used xrandr to get the dual monitors working that I connect through a laptop dock. I used xrandr again to switch back to the laptop display when I undocked. The problem is, after a restart, the laptop seems to want to come back up with the dual monitor configuration and the laptop screen stays blank.
Hi all.
I've recently begun using Fedora 17 on my new laptop, however I've almost immediately hit problems with a multi-monitor setup. I have searched the forum for a solution, but I haven't been able to find anything as yet, so I'm hoping someone could help me out.
Currently I can use the laptop internal monitor, and a second monitor connected via the VGA port perfectly fine.
Lenovo thinkpad (W510) with nvidia display adapter w/ External display.
I have the same issue on two laptop computers with Intel Graphic Chip sets.
1st Laptop - Intel GMA 4500
Laptop display resolution is fine however external monitor will not go higher than 1024x768. On windows this computer manages 1366x768 with the same monitor.
2nd Laptop - Intel GMA 950
Laptop display resolution is fine however external monitor will not go higher than 1024x768.
So, I start Ubuntu on my laptop, then I plug in my external monitor and I go to preferences and click on display to change the screen from laptop io the external one, just as I click on display, the laptop screen goes dark, only I see the mouse pointer, and nothing on the external screen.
If I turn on the computer with the external display plugged in, everything works fine.
