The United States defines its diet through its American Dietary Guidelines provided by the Food and Drug Administration. After 19 years, the food pyramid is ancient history and the new colorful, 4-part Diner Plate promises to be easier to use.
Consumer Reports magazine has analyzed the various popular diets available in the United States (and elsewhere). Based on the 2010 U.S. Dietary Guidelines, the magazine has announced its top three diet plans. Guess who is number one?
North Carolina-based INRFOOD aims to add some much-needed context to the food we eat every day by highlighting all the (occasionally funky) ingredients that tend to appear in it.
U.S. researchers fed mice yogurt on a daily basis, while others got a regular mouse diet or a fast-food-equivalent diet. They found that these yogurt-eating mice had shinier fur coats; and, in the sexual category, these yogurt-eating mice were far better off (if you know what I mean) than the other mice.
Burpple, the social discovery app that seeks to connect food lovers from around the world, just released their Android app in public beta. Their iOS app was launched in December 2011.
The app now boosts users from 140 countries and 4,000 cities who have shared 300,000 “food moments,” including photos of dishes consumed and check-ins at different establishments.
