[ubuntu] Desktop, unity disappeared

http://ubuntuforums.org – Ok, I wrote in my other thread, I'm new to Ubuntu. I'll change to it, but now I've got a test enviroment (with 12.10) on my notebook. So I can test it, and there's no problem if I make a mistake. 2 days ago after a reboot I got the message "The system is running in low-graphics mode" error... And I couldn't do anything. I tried to fix it as described here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=439745 and here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/13101...-install-unity and as I saw some other places. But Unity is still broken. I could use only the basic Gnome envirom (Hardware)

I've recently donwloaded Kubuntu 9.10 and installed into my laptop, I fell in love with it, and I decided to install it in my personal computer too.

So I put in my cd, and wait until CD boots, select my language, and select the "install" option.

This thread is more like discussion. What packages to remove/purge in new Ubuntu to make the system faster and more stable? If you are like advanced Ubuntu user and don't need all that eye-candy and "easy-to-use" features.

When virtualbox is running in fullscreen mode, and I'll minimize it to go back to Unity, the only visible elements are the wallpaper and the background shadow of the upper bar. If then I click on virtualbox main window return all normal.
