I recently tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 alongside Windows 7 on my Inspiron r17 with an Intel i3 processor & nVidea GeForce GT 525 M video card, and immediately ran into issues. This is my first experience with Ubuntu or even Linux but as always I did my home work and tried to solve the issue myself. Truthfully I was over whelmed by the amount of information and just can't seem to fix it.
I will soon be purchasing a new laptop & currently the Dell Inspiron 17 is my favourite. I have been looking around for compatibility issues and it seems to be fine.
Hey all, I'm new here :P
I've got two computers with a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04:
- Acer Aspire One D270 netbook, Intel Atom processor, 2 gb ram
- Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook, Intel Core 2 duo processor, 3 gb ram
And I've got the EXACT same issues on both:
- every minute or so, the screen freezes for 3 or 4 seconds. I'm not able to do anything, and everything on the screen stays still.
I've been trying for a while now to get Ubuntu to boot on my Dell Inspiron 1100, but no avail. It goes to the boot splash, then I hear the login sound and the screen is blank.
I have 512MB RAM, a 1.99 GHz Celeron Processor, and a 82845G Intel Graphics card.
Is there a way to fix this?
To begin I have a Dell Inspiron 1520. I am dual booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10. My wireless card is built into the computer. The card is an Intel Pro wireless 3945 ABG. Currently wireless is work on Win 7 but not Ubuntu. The other day when I started Ubuntu wifi was working great but now when I right click on the networks icon the "enable wireless" option is listed in dark grey.
so i installed ubuntu after windows was wiped out by destiny and everything was fine until i wasn't able to start ubuntu: it would stuck in a black screen with a blinking cursor forever.
I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron Mini Duo 3487FNT Convertible Laptop/Tablet. The specs:
Intel Atom N550 Processor (1.5GHz); 2GB RAM; 320GB Hard Drive; Wireless 802.11n / Bluetooth Combo Card; 10.1" Widescreen HD (1366X768 ) Multi-Touch Display; Integrated Intel NM10 Express graphics; and Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed.
I decided to dual boot with Ubuntu 12.04LTS.
I just created a disaster I would not have thought possible. I used a USB stick to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS alongside Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 560.
The install went well, except that GRUB didn't install.
Important information:
Comp - dell Inspiron e1705
OS - Win 7/ Ubuntu 8.04 w/ Kernel 2.6.22.19
