I'm looking at buying a Dell Inspiron 1564, and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it?
If this would be a bad choice of laptop hardware, could anyone suggest a more Ubuntu-friendly one?

I have been trying to get BT5 installed of my Dell Inspiron 1564 - but have had a number of problems. I have used previous versions of BT for several years, but I am not a Linux expert....I rely heavily on these forums for fixes.
I have tried both BT5 64bit Gnome and BT5 64bit KDE. I can get both installed, but with Gnome my sound doesnt work.
I am facing a strange thing with my ubuntu system ..
my system : Dell Inspiron 1564 Laptop , Dual boot .. Win7 + ubuntu
at first i installed ubuntu 10.04 and that was my first ubuntu try .. it was very stable the best operating system ... and everything was ok !!!!!
after that i ran the update manager as usual ..
I made the upgrade on my Lubuntu machine to 13.10 yesterday. Everything seemed to go smoothly except one niggling thing I can't seem to fix. Previously, I had set the power button to suspend my computer when it was pressed- I was able to set this in the Xfce Power manager.
However after the upgrade, pressing the power button will shutdown the computer rather than suspending.
Hi, I'm attracted by the newly released Dell Inspiron (17inch) 7000:
and plan to buy one, and I wish to install Ubuntu 12.04LTS on the laptop. Is there anyone who already has experience of installing Ubuntu 12.04 on this type of laptop? If yes, could you please share the experience with us?
