I have two different sound devices for output:
"Internal Audio Analog Stereo" for headphones
"High Definition Audio Controller Digital Stereo (HDMI)" for speakers
For example: if I open a music player and start a song, it plays out fine from speakers. But when I try to control volume it controls "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" instead of HDMI.
I'm on a Hp laptop and I've been running Ubuntu for several months without a single sound issue. After a regular update notice popped up, I updated the 20 or so things.
Now whenever the PC locks the screen from being idle too long I loose sound from my headphone jack (into my external speakers) and onboard speakers when I unplug the externals.
I have enabled "simultaneous output" in PulseAudio Preferences, I run pasystray(pavucontrol for volume), and want to use both HDMI-output as well as internal output in different application at the same time, but sound configuration (both pavucontrol and phonon) only lets me activate 1 device at a time (by selecting card profiles).
Computer: Acer Aspire 6920
Card: HDA Intel
Chip: Realtek ALC889
My problem is that the laptop build-in speakers don't play any sound. When i plug in my headphones the sound works normally, the same goes with external speakers.
Hi,
I have a laptop with onboard speakers and a headphone jack.
If you use the headphone jack the onboard speakers stop.
This is good because my onboard speakers are broken so i plug my headphones into the headphone jack and i still have sound :D
Hello. There is such a problem.
Although there is sound via hdmi (music, video, kde), there is no sound in firefox via hdmi. But what's more there is sound in headphones and analog output but I just can't make my sony tv to grab sound from analog output.
So I want to ask you if you know how to make firefox to play sound through hdmi?
Thank you for your help)
it used to be that when I plugged in my laptop to an hdmi cable that he hdmi sound output automatically showed up under the all settings, sounds, output tab. Unfortunately, it didn't automatically start sending sound through that but it wasn't a big deal to pull up the sound settings and click on that output so that sound would start coming out of the TV.
I am using Xubuntu 12.10 fully updated on an HP 200-5220a. I have a Hi-Fi system plugged into the headphones output. This has worked without any problems for nearly two years until the last 2 or 3 days. Then the sound output stopped. I think I may have reset something somewhere!
I can correct the problem by going into the Menu > Multimedia > PulseAudio Volume Control.
I'm trying to get HDMI to analog audio output switching when the HDMI cable is plugged or unplugged.I have a working script that can detect if the HDMI output is plugged or not and switch pulseaudio to the correct setting:#!
