[ubuntu] dash preview for music lens not working properly

http://ubuntuforums.org – i installed quantal quetzal a few days back n now I’ve run into a small problem when i right click any music file in my hard disk(i.e. locally) in the dash, the preview feature does not work correctly.. I’m not getting the option to open the file or the containing folder also the file i attach should give a clearer picture i feel this has something to do with me changing the default music player from rhythmbox to banshee but i may be wrong is there any solution for this problem? oh and btw, the online music plays perfectly from the dash preview... its only the local music that is behaving we (Hardware)

I have set Rhythmbox as my default music player through System Settings > Details, but when I browse and play music from the Unity dash, Banshee opens up and plays the music. How can I have Rhythmbox take care of this job?

So i decided to organize my music downloaded banshee because i could not do any thing with default music player, so i installed banshee

Then i Started organizing music getting album artwork editing music genre and so on When i Finished i opened file browser, clicked on music properties and what do i see no music meta data was changed is there a way to fix this because it is really frustratin

If you are like me have a lot of media you will tend to have this on a few dedicated disks in your systems or external.

What I wish to be able to do is search pictures/videos/music from the unity dash but locate all my media spread over a number of locations.

I kind of have two questions, that tie into each other.

I want to set Banshee as the default music player. It seems simple enough. Go to "systems settings > Details > Default Applications" and change "Music"from "Rhythmbox" to "Banshee". But, this did not work. How do I make this work? How do I uninstall Rhythmbox?

Okay so I just bought my Samsung Galaxy S3 in January along with a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB MicroSDXC Class 10. I have a lot of music files (around 9 GB) so I put them in the external SD drive. I think I first tried putting my music in it using my Mac and I had some trouble at first putting it in with DoubleTwist with my PC.

Everytime I open the dash and go to the music lens to search for a specific title, it takes quite a while till any titles are displayed and I can hear my hdd working during the process.

I didn't copy too many of my CDs to my laptop so I don't really get why it takes the lens so long to load any matches.

Is there a way to make the lens search from a customized database?

Hi all,

I'm sure that previously I've been able to directly access pics, music and video by clicking on the clip that shows up in dash.

For instance, I would see a previously played video, click on the thumnail in dash, and it would launch the clip in my default player.

Now when I do, it takes me to the highlighted file in Nautilus.

How can I change this back please?

Does anyone else have a problem with getting their N4 to see music that you have added manually to the device? In google music or amazonplayer that i use both say i have no music on the device when i have. Oddly, i can play it via the file manager but only as a clip rather than through the player applications themselves with all their functionality.
