Hi,
I want to back up my music CDs in a lossless (able to reproduce the original CD from my data), yet easily-accessible (playable) way.
While making an ISO or a BIN/CUE of the CD would be lossless (at least the latter, right?), I would need to mount the ISO as a loopback device to play it, or use one of the few players which can play ISOs.
So I opted for a CUE + whole-disc-FLAC encode of
Every thread I went to told me, to burn MP3 disc I have to select data disc in Brasero or in other burning app. This is not true, I have wasted my CD ten times just to burning a working MP3 disc. It plays with some of my player but not all. To burn an MP3 disc with data mode on Brasero or other app is absolutely dumb.

Okay, my disc drive on my Toshiba Satellite L355 laptop will not read DVDs or CDs anymore. I've cleaned the discs and the lens, tried many different Media Players, got ALL the permissions, and even scanned for viruses and such. I tested the drive on OpenSUSE and it played the movies fine so it can't be hardware. So it's definitely got to be something with Ubuntu.

Hello Ubuntu Forum People! It's nice to meet you all.
Let me start from the beginning. In the beginning... There was Chuck Norris having a brofist with God then BOOM! The Earth was created.
I select "Optical Disks". I put in a video DVD (that plays fine in a DVD player) then hit "Play Optical Disc". Nothing happens. I've looked in mythbackend.log, there doesn't appear to be anything unusual in it.
