Here's a quick write-up on my real-life experience with adding the HP LaserJet and Ricoh Aficio MP 3500 as printers in Ubuntu GNU/Linux.I chose to make a note of this simple task because I was tripped up by it at first. The problem? The default setting caused nothing but garbage at the printer.
Hi,
I'm trying to print to a Ricoh Aficio printer, my OS is Ubuntu 11.10 on a Sony laptop.
When I connect it it all seems ok, in the sense the printer appears on the printer list and is recognised as the correct model.
However when I send a test page the folllowing occurs.
Instead of printing a test page it prints the following text:
"CUPS PrintTestPage"
not sure why this is happen
After installing a Ricoh Aficio SP 100su E printer (it does scanning as well),
I've tried a tenth of the GDI and PCL (5e/6) generic and Ricoh drivers without any success.
I've learned from Ricoh that this printer uses GDI standard... but these drivers don't seem to work. No errors occur, but no pages are printed out.
Has anybody succeeded to print under Linux with this one?
Anyone have problems installing printers?
I cannot install any printer since I get errors about cups.
I would like to connect multiple printers and send print-files to each of them. I understand that printers are listed as /dev/usb/lp0, /dev/usb/lp1, etc. However, I have noticed that Linux does not list them in any particular order. I do NOT want to use CUPS to get the information for each of my printers.
My 11.2(KDE) machine automatically picks up several remote printers at work, most of which I never ever use.
Is there a simple way to hide some selected printer?
I only want to hide certain specific printer names (or printer IP-addresses), but see all other remote printers. So when I am travelling somewhere else, I want to see all printers that are currently available.
Hi,
We are facing an issue while setting up printers in solaris 5.10 . We have Oracle EBS installed over it. We have configured the printer and when we try printing a page from EBS it is printing fine. But the problem arises when we print two copies of the page.

The file is send to the wright printer.
Printer crasch.
I look on internet en found a solution.

I have two printers connected by Wi-Fi to my local network. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 on a desktop computer which is hooked to my router by Ethernet cable. I am having trouble connecting to the printers. The printers are a Brother HL2280DW and a Canon MG6120 Pixma.
