I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop yesterday and it connected to the wireless fine. Then I took it to school, put it on their wired connection, downloaded some stuff, and now the wireless doesn't work.
At first it would detect networks, but not connect. I restarted it and now it can connect, but it acts like it doesn't have internet in the browser. Wired connection still works fine on it.
Connection to Internet stops when connected to wired Internet using network manager.
Ubuntu 12.04.
I'm having troubles with my internet connection in ubuntu right now. Well, a few actually.
First, when I compare my speeds between ubuntu and Windows, I'm getting double my link speed on Windows than on ubuntu.
Second, my internet connection periodically drops. Usually when I'm downloading a large file or putting a large load on my connection.

I have a weird problem. My Internet connection just seems to die after a few minutesof operation. If I reboot the desktop, or the wireless router or even just disconnect and reconnect the wireless network it seems to reset and internet works again for a while.
I know this is not an Ubuntu problem as it also happened under Windows XP.
I have an oloder dell laptop, I have Netgear which I have been using just fine. I now just moved and am having trouble connecting to the internet. My connection says auto ethernet, and connected. I can not tho connect to the internet{my wired connection is not working}. Also I noticed my fn keys are not working, where I used to be able to turn on my wireless using the fn keys, I no longer can.
So this is my problem, I intalled ubuntu 12.04 with the wubi.exe and everything works fine, but my internet connection. When I try to install a program or use firefox, it goes with 24kb/s with a little luck for 1-2 seconds and then my internet terminates and it starts up again after 3-5 mins. Then it goes with an other 24kb/s and this will repeat.
I updated to 12.04 a few days ago and ever since then the connection manager has constantly been looking for an internet connection and saying the network is disconnected. Thing is, my modem has been sending out a steady signal and I've had internet connectivity the whole time.
I brought Dell Inspiron N5050 few months back. from day 1 i am getting problem with wired connection, i am able to use web browser for few minutes then all of the sudden i lost internet connection but i don't know why transmission is still able to download torrent from internet.
