http://ubuntuforums.org – I am trying to connect multiple USB 3G modem (two, in my case) in Ubuntu 12.04. I can do it graphically through the Network Manager, but I'd like to replicate the process through the command line. Here is the process that I am trying to emulate. Connect two 3G dongles, both huawei, Model No: E173Bu-1 (Service provider: Airtel) and Model No: E173u-1(Service Provider: MTNL). The connections that I configured shouldn't have "connect automatically" checked in the Network Manager GUI. Now, from the Network Manager GUI, I am able to connect to both of them manually one after th (Hardware)

PROBLEM:

1 - The netbook can sometimes, sometimes not, connect to the internet mobile broadband 3G (or 2G GSM) via USB 3G modem.

2 - For it to connect to mobile broadband (when it can) I have, after sticking the modem into the USB port, and then enter the shell prompt with the command:

/ Sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id

3 - Then I have to restart the network-manager:

Service networ

I am using wicd network manager to connect to my wireless network, it was working fine until I got a new modem/router from my isp, the original one was a livebox but this is a Thomson tg172 modem.

i have a 3g Modem and it's my only way to connect to internet .

in the GUI Mode it's easy to connect via Network Manager , But how to connect to internet with this modem in the Text Mode?

the problem is i cant connect to adsl with pon dsl-provider or any command line.

problem is that when i connect my modem on usb it will detected in mobile brodband connection manager as huawei brodband huawei mobile after that i will also fill the proper apn(bsnlnet) and no(*99#) and username(bsnlnet)Password is blank but when i connect it will prompt me for a passwo

One change in ubuntu 12.04.1 from 10.04 is that the OS checks for network config at the time of booting and perhaps wants to completes network connection before the log in screen is visible. However I use modem along with telephone line to connect to internet and till 10.04 I used to connect modem after logging into my account. This is no longer the default way in 12.04.

I have a ZTE-AC2726 Broadband USB MODEM and I am having a problem connecting.

It used to work perfectly well with Previous versions of Ubuntu but not with 12.04, which I am currently using.

I need help is establishing connection and I don't know where to start looking. Network-Manager, Modemmanager and usb_modeswitch are all in place. Network manager detects my said device as modem...

The issue I've is that when I connect via modem through gnome-ppp the Network Manager Applet don't detect a connection and don't let me use the configured VPNs via its interface.

How Can I manually activate the Network Manager Applet?

i m nokia mobile to connect to internet in 11.2 configured it all in n/w manager with phone number *99# APN: XYUX(as given by provider) also wrote the dns in resolv.conf but all in vain . it is not connecting neither dialing any number just shows "activating" but with no progress earlier in 11.1 i used kinternet (but i couldn't find it here)
