Yesterday, I have reinstalled Ubuntu due to a error: hd0 out of disk on boot. Everything went fine, I've installed apps, perform updates and upgraded the kernel. I've even restarted it a few times just to check if I would encounter boot issues and was glad that everything was working perfectly, then powered it down.
The next morning when I boot, I got this error: hd0 out of disk error.
I was recently having severe windows problems so i installed ubuntu 9.04 because i had a disk they mailed me years ago. I installed it onto a different partition on my hardrive and then deleted the windows partition and expanded the ubuntu partition to fill the entire hard drive so to get rid of the problem partiton.
I have used Ubuntu before on my previous laptop, after getting a new laptop I would like to install Ubuntu onto it, but I'm running into some major issues.
Firstly when I put the boot disk in it loads up fine until it gets to the try ubuntu / install ubuntu menu, at this point it freezes.
So recently, my windows installation on my computer got corrupted somehow so I decided to do a full wipe and install Ubuntu. After having problems and errors appear with using the installer on a dvd a burned while attempting to create partitions, I went ahead and used parted magic also burned onto a dvd to completely fill the drive with zeros.
I've got an Acer Aspire 5750-6866 with 8gb of user upgraded memory. been running dual boot ubuntu and windows 7 for a while. the other day i start getting the hd0 out of disk error and a boot screen that is completely different than what i was getting before (purple boot screen).
Hi I do not know if I am asking the question in the right forum but I need help .I am running Ubuntu 11.10 through a Wubi install.I also have Windows 7 running on my machine and both Ubuntu and Windows are in the same disk. This is what happened a few weeks back, my windows simply refused to boot up. None of the options seem to work.
I'm trying to load Ubuntu onto an old pentium 4 pc. The boot disk is good. I've checked the memory and all is OK. I run from the boot disk fine. Get the menu and select install and then I sit and look at a purple screen with 12.04.04 and 4 dots changing colour in its centre for hours. I never get to the 'prepare disk' options tab. Any ideas?
I've had Ubuntu 12.04 dual boot installed via WUBI on my Win7 HP laptop for several months.
I primarily use Win7, using Ubuntu on the weekend and for Ruby on Rails.
Recently Win7 crashed on me. After the crash I can no longer boot up with Win7.
OK.
Novice and new and you will see below how much of a mess I've created.
My windows recently refused to boot, instead taking me to the BSOD and repeatedly trying to reboot.
