Greetings. I am presently experiencing a problen in not being able to use my new Compaq CQ61 laptop's wireless communications circuitry.
Laptop: hp 6735b with broadcom43xx (not sure which) wireless card
The laptop came with Vista and the wireless toggle button works when running Vista. Enter Ubuntu. Proprietary drivers detected and installed, but external physical button remains in 'disabled' state (indicated by an orange glow, blue glow when enabled) no matter how many times I press it.
I am running F17 on my Compaq Presario CQ50-115NR. It was given to me by a friend and he introduced me to the world of linux. When he gave me the laptop, everything was working fine, but the laptop has a faulty battery so it cannot be unplugged. The laptop was running when it was accidentally unplugged and the computer has been severely messed up since.
Could someone help me with following..
I have Compaq Presario C773TU laptop.
I want to install ubuntu on this laptop.
I tried 8.04.4 and 10.04.4 but both these are getting stuck at 5% when installation starts. I tried defining ext2/ext3 for "/" mount, but it is not proceeding, and getting stuck at 5%.
Hello, my Compaq Presario V4000 will not connect to the Internet on Ubuntu. I know that it is a firmware problem and not a hardware one, as it works fine on my second, smaller partition of Windows XP. I've looked through a figurative TON of other threads on the issue, and none have fixed my problem.
I am currently using 11.10 on my Compaq Presario V3130 machine. When recently I tried to use wireless on my laptop i found that it is not working as the option of "Enable Wireless" is not highlighted in the network manager. My wifi switch is on and earlier I had used wifi with 11.04. Please help on this as don't know much about Ubuntu.
I was going to post this in the Networking and Wireless forum, but I learned that this issue is specific to the Compaq Presario V2000, so it's more laptop related.
My internet works fine on Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit), I always connect via the built-in wireless, and never had a problem.
