Over the last 24 hours the Canonical Community Team spent an entire 24-hour period together working, interviewing community members, planning further work, and fund-raising for our six charities; Oxfam (Daniel Holbach), Greenpeace (David Planella), Little Kids Rock! (Jorge Castro), Autism Research Trust (Michael Hall), WaterAid (Nicholas Skaggs), and Homeless International (Myself).
National recruiter, Finite IT, was well represented in this year’s Sydney City2 Surf fun run, again raising money for charity as the company has done over a number of years.
Ubuntu has enjoyed fantastic success over the past few years, becoming one of the dominant Linux distributions, and the distribution of choice for netbooks. Jono Bacon's job is to make sure that that success continues, by keeping the huge Ubuntu developer community happy and productive.
Today Jono Bacon made a blog post about starting a Ubuntu Power Users Community. I personally think that this is a great idea and would love to help out with starting this community. I spoke with Jono about this on IRC, and would like to hear from other people who are interested in getting this setup.

Radiohead, a British band that made waves by offering its latest studio album for free or "pay what you want", has just endorsed a community-made DVD of its Haiti earthquake charity concert from January 2010. The DVD is downloadable for free via BitTorrent, and you are strongly encouraged to donate as much as you can to Oxfam's Haiti Earthquake and Recovery Fund.
The folks over at Humble Bundle have put together something great. The 'Humble Indie Bundle V' is a collection of computer games being sold to raise money for charity and to raise awareness of "indie" (not associated with any of the large gaming companies) games.
The Humble Indie Bundle V is using an interesting model where a user can donate any amount of money and get four games.
IT recruitment firm, FiniteIT, is once again setting itself for participation in the Sydney City2Surf race, with the company management and staff hoping to raise more money for its nominated charity, the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia.
