freshclam doesn't want to update the signature database due to a permissions problem with the logfile:

Freshclam error 38 weeks 6 days ago

After installing clamav and clamtk, when doing freshclam i receive this message:

freshclam ERROR: Can't create temporary directory /var/lib/clamav/clamav-f52645d8e80b9b727228734e339d231d Hint: The database directory must be writable for UID 1000 or GID 1000

Could somebody help?

I am running OS X server 10.8 ClamXAV is built in. I have installed and am running squidman (Squid proxy server). I'd like to install HAVP and get it up and running.

Hi, guys

I'm running Lubuntu 12.04 and use CLAMAV to check files that I load onto a USB stick for use in Windows.

When I noticed that the CLAMTK gui was showing "outdated signatures" I went into the Synaptic Package Manager and upgraded CLAMAV, CLAMTK etc and rebooted. The message was still showing.

how to rectify this..
