Video playback on streaming video on the web browser is very choppy. I don't think it's supposed to be this bad.My video card is an ATI RADEON 9200SE-64TV.
I have used VLC without problem for years on Ubuntu 10.04 Gnome, but I recently did a fresh install on the same computer of Xubuntu 12.04. Now I get choppy video in VLC, although audio is fine. The same videos play perfectly in Totem, but I prefer VLC. I also get slow response in VLC to clicking on menu items - like VLC is sucking up all the RAM/CPU power.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and while using Ubuntu (unity 3d) full screen video playback is very choppy. This includes, VLC, movie player, and to a lesser extent youtube videos. However, not all video playback is choppy: smaller-sized or windowed videos run smoothly.
I'm getting choppy playback in flash, 32bit. It's fine until I go fullscreen. Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of installing the 64bit version of opensuse. My experience of Flash at 64 bit on Ubuntu was very stable and choppy free.
I'm running Core 2 Duo Processor with and ATI Radeon and 2 gig of ram.
My video card is an Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics, and although
Ubuntu always updates the drivers for these cards, the pictures I get are either choppy or grainy when I watch web-tv.
Can anyone explain why?

Usually most of the time Ubuntu 12.04 has been working great. However once in a while if Im on Youtube or listening to music/video the sound or video will become choppy. The only way I can fix this problem temporarily if by restarting my labtop. Any reason why this is happening and what I can do to fix it permanently? Thanks.
I bought myself a MSI Wind U210 laptop several months ago and have installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it. It runs great except for my graphics card. Compiz works great but sometimes really fast video is choppy even below 480p. Since it runs great in XP I figured this must be because of my graphics driver in Ubuntu.
My graphics card is a Radeon Mobile X1270.
