The Update Manager showed approximately 74MB to download. I downloaded via Update Mgr. and it's hanging on install. Nothing is installing and I can't close Update Mgr.
This is about files straight from the compiler, say g++, and the -o (outfile) flag.
If they are binary, shouldn't they just be a bunch of 0's and 1's?
When you cat them, you get unintelligible output but also intact words.
If you file them, you get the answer immediately - there seem to be no computation.
Hi at all,
I'm trying to launch a binary file form shell in this way:
#/opt/some/binary/file/binaryfile
but shell answer:
#/opt/some/binary/file/binaryfile
/opt/some/binary/file/binaryfile : no such file o directory
but the path is ok and the binary file is in that path.
I'm tried also:
chmod 777 -R /opt/
without success.
Where is my mistake?

I have edited the sources.list file in order to install a distribution of ns2. However when I run sudo apt-get update command it gives a 404 error that the package could not be located.
looking at the link, it directs to 'binary-i386', however inspecting the link I need it to direct to 'binary-amd64'. How could I change this?
I have a binary file on unix, which when executed asks the user for inputs. The inputs to this binary file are given manually.I want to automate the prcodeure ,since I know the inputs already.I can't modify the binary file. How can I do this ? Hi,
This may be a strange question, but here it is. I am writing a C program for 64 bit compilation which gives lots of binary output files (mainly entire C structures with double precision numbers). In 64 bit computer I can read and process data without any problem. But, I cannot read the data from a 32 bit computer (because it is in 64 bit).
