I have an Asus EAH5450 graphic card with HD5450 chipset.
Despite installing with Synaptic all the drivers that appear in the reppos, it doesn't work.
Somebody can help me?
(Sorry for my poor english)

I am very new to Ubuntu and PC building. I just built my first PC as well, it is around the ASUS P8Z68-VLX mobo. In the tutorials I have seen they talk about installing drivers for the chipset, sound, video card, etc.; it seems though that drivers are already installed on Ubuntu and each of the sites for my mobo and video card only work with Windows.
I installed 12.10 a few days ago and everything has been fine until I downloaded the Nvidia drivers from the software centre. Now, whenever I boot into Ubuntu, I've lost the side bar and the top menu bar and the screen resolution is much lower than it was (everything looks much bigger on the screen).
I have just puchased a Dell Optiplex GX280 and installed an AMD Radeon HD5450 1GB graphics card, this is inserted in the PCI express slot. I am currently experiencing significance graphics issues from boot into ubuntu with green horizontal lines present.
Activating fglrx results in a total loss of screen resolution into a colorful mess which is unintelligible.
