[ubuntu] Can't reinstall Windows XP after Ubuntu install

http://ubuntuforums.org – I've been trying to help a friend reinstall Windows XP after she decided she wasn't ready for Ubuntu, but when I boot her Lenovo T61p from the Windows XP install disk, it complains that there is no hard drive. But the hard drive is fine, and will still boot Ubuntu. I even booted Ubuntu from the Ubuntu install CD and used the partition manager to remove the Ubuntu partitions, and then retried running the Windows XP install, but still it claims there is no hard drive. Then I put the Ubuntu install CD back in and had no trouble reinstalling Ubuntu on the supposedly "nonexistent" hard dr (Hardware)

I would like to start off by saying that I am new to Ubuntu and forums as well. Lets get on with the problem now. I am on my old desktop, possibly about 7-8 years. It has 2 hard drives on it. 1 hard drive has Windows XP Professional installed on it and the 2nd hard drive is empty.

I had a very hard time to dual boot install Ubuntu 12.04 Apparently, Ubuntu has restriction of 4 partitions and I already had 4, so it just couldn't recognise my partitions. This was something I realised too late, but finally got to install Ubuntu.

Now, even though Windows 7 option is listed when I try to boot my laptop, it doesn't really let me boot and just loops back to begin.

I recently purchased a new hard drive for my system, I will give you a quick explanation of that

sda - Old 1TB drive, MBR, houses my Windows 7 install sdb - New 2TB drive, GPT houses Ubuntu 12.10

Ubuntu installs to my new drive no problem, but I can't boot into Windows, I get a "EFI File Path not valid".

I have a 320gb USB hard drive, one partition for my files, one for playing Wii games, and one which I would like to use for an Ubuntu instillation.

To do this, I partitioned my disk accordingly using Windows, then booted from the Ubuntu CD to install the OS to my external hard drive partition.

I downloade Ubuntu to a thumb drive and can boot up without a problem on the thumb drive.

I have a dell XPS that got hit with a virus and it was too painful to remove it. I wiped the hard drive clean using the XP install disc (NTSF). When I tried to install and run windows it said that the drive was not available. I gave up at this point and got out my thumb drive and booted up in Ubuntu.

I'm having trouble installing Ubuntu. I've installed 8.10 before as a dual boot on my machine (Windows XP3) on a 120Gb USB hard disk. My system is set up as : First Hard drive, partitioned to give C: (on which I put Windows XP) D: all my data. 2nd Hard drive: E: a 120Gb usb hard drive, partitioned half and half to give space for backups and for Ubuntu.

I am trying to install ubuntu on a pc already running windows7 os. I have got 3 volumes on my hard disk. 1st C drive is where windows is installed, second drive A is where I want to install ubuntu and 3rd is used for backup. When I run installation from my USB it gives my options 1.

I had ubuntu 11.04 installed on another complete hard drive thats not even connected with my main hard drive. see I Just unhooked my Windows vista hard drive. and put another drive to run ubuntu.

I am new to Ubuntu and I just got the LiveCD thingy to try it out on my laptop. I like it, so I decided to install it alongside Windows. But, I don't want to partition my hard drive that I have Windows on, so I got an external 250 GB USB hard drive to install ubuntu on.
