[ubuntu] Can't Print using the Canon MP560

http://ubuntuforums.org – My printer is being difficult to say the least. When I go to add a printer, it doesn't show up unless I go into the windows printer via samba. When I find it, I can't select it. It is shared on the network, and I am in the network. I've tried to install the drivers for it, but I'm using 64 bit Ubuntu, so i have to force architecture. However, I get a lot of errors, and am forced to do a partial upgrade to resolve them. Here's what I get: Code: dpkg: error processing –force-architecture (--install):  cannot access archive: No such file or directory Selecting previously deselected pac (Hardware)

I'm trying to set up my Canon MP550 printer to an Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit desktop (using Gnome3). But it simply refuses to work!

I have tried installing drivers from the apt repository, and I have tried installing the drivers that I downloaded directly from the canon website using dpkg --force-architecture --force-depends etc...

Both methods install the drivers perfectly fine.

Toshiba Laptop L350-S5933, Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3400 @2.16 GHz, Ram 3.o GB, ACPI x86 32 bit OpSys, Canon MP560, Dual Boot installed Karmic (Vista other OS), Canon is logged into wireless network using Actiontec.

Ubuntu shows the printer as the default printer. Listed as Make & Model: Canon Pixma MP500 - cups+ Gutenprint v5.4

I am trying to install my Canon MP560, but, when I select the printer from the Windows Printer list, I am still unable to hit okay. What is the problem here? Thanks! Screen shot attached.

I am trying to setup up an HP Officejet G85xi printer through an Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive, so that the printer can be shared over the network without requiring that an attached computer be turned on to print. There is a place on the back of the Network Hard Drive to plug in the printer with USB.

We have 3 computers with windows xp installed and two canon ir2200-ir3300 printer all connected through a router box. Each computer and each printer has ip addresses. It was configured like tcp ip enabled printer inside the local printer option. Each windows system can see both printer with ip and can select them to print.

Now we want to try ubuntu in one of the system.

I have a funny problem with my printer.

Hopefully someone can give me some help. At my office, I run Ubuntu 10.04 on my computer. I am trying to connect to a printer over the network that is connected directly to a Windows XP machine. I have gone through all of the steps to install the printer. I have Samba. The printer is shared on the XP machine. I have the drivers.

I have Windows7 on one machine. Ubuntu 12.10 on another. I have a printer connected to the Windows7 machine. Basic network home lan setup. The brother printer works fine on windows 7. I setup "share printer" on the windows7 machine.

How can I configure a printer to print wirelessly in ubuntu 12.04 ?

I have a canon pixma mg 5300 series, and I am able to print correctly by usb (the drivers were installed). Now I'm trying to do it wirelessly.

I configured the printer so that it connects to my access point, and assigned it a static IP (192.168.0.6). It connects correctly, and responds to ping.
