Hello
I am reasonably new to Ubuntu/Linux in general.
I have a 32gb USB 3.0 stick and have installed Ubuntu 11.10 DVD i386 ISO onto it using Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.9.0.exe
I formatted the stick to FAT32 (as that is what I was told to do) and then set the Casper RW file to 4 gb. I have just learned that that 4 gb is my disk space.
Is there a way of having a bigger Casper RW file?
This tutorial will explain how to configure Ubuntu make single left-click open files/folders, launch applications.
1. Open a nautilus window by launching Home Folder in Unity launcher.
2. Navigate to Edit -> Preferences -> Behavior tab.
3. Under behavior, tick on “Single click to open items”
That’s it, enjoy!
I'm new to Ubuntu. If I click Dash then the second tab (Search Applications), one of the items is "Installed Applications". Is there anyway to put a quick link to this in the launcher? Basically a icon like home that will instead open a list of all installed applications?
Sometimes I click the icons of the launcher by mistake and I have to wait until the program opens to close it again. Is there way I can open the programs in the launcher only if I double click them?
Thanks.
Just upgraded to 12.10 and had dvd working fine using VLC.
I was toying with launcher when I noted that the icon for the drive had changed from disc going into drive, to an external drive looking icon.
so, I unlocked it from launchbar and ever since, VLC won't play dvds coz it can't "see" my dvd drive...
anyone?
thx,
Deus Abs
I'm trying to install ubuntu with an usb stick, I used the Universal USB Installer/Pen Drive Linux's USB Installer to pack up the iso to the drive and everything went fine.
But now when I boot into the ubuntu installer I come to the "Try Ubuntu" or "Install Ubuntu" I click Install Ubuntu and I come to the next screen, so far everything fine.
I check the install updates and third party software, be
Hi All.
I just upgraded my Ubuntu version from 10.04 to 12.04. When I click a Launcher icon, such as Firefox (just an example), the application will not start. To start the application, I need to right click on the icon then click on the name of the application to get it started.
I'm using WD My Passport Essential and I've noticed that when I plug it on my laptop this message shows (see attached pic). I can't click on my external hd icon on my launcher but I can access my files via My Computer -> My Passport. After the long cut access, surprisingly I can already click on external hd icon on the launcher already.
I'm a bit worried why that message pops up.
I have created an Ubuntu Live USB using pendrive's Universal USB Installer. I found a link about creating the casper-rw but it's for a Live CD at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD/Persistence.
How do I create casper-rw and configure the live USB to recognize the casper-rw for persistence?
