[ubuntu] Can't connect after connecting to a wireless router

http://ubuntuforums.org – I have very little understanding (ok no technical ability so be gentle) Ubuntu 10.10 connects to a DSL modem without any problems - I mean I just plugged it in and it worked - GREAT I bought a wireless router so I could connect my netbook and now my Ubuntu machine which is simply using a cable from the wireless router now DOES NOT connect. I tried a windows machine on the wired connection from the wireless router and it connects without a problem. OF course if I remove the wireless router from the chain, i.e. simply connect directly to the modem it works straight away. I guess I have cove (HowTos)

OK So I moved today and had to purchase a new wireless router. Without changing any setting I connected using WiCd wirelessly from my last residence.

I now purchased a Linksys WRT160N wireless router to use however cant connect to that wired or wireless. well let me specify, WiCd states its connected but no internet connection is found in firefox.

I just bought a TRENDNET TDM C4000 (=modem/ wiredrouter) and got it working. If I connect my computer with through the ethernet port directly, the internet will work. However, when I try connecting the ends of the ethernet cable on the modem and my wireless router, it's not transmitting. I know I set up the wireless router correctly because it worked with my previous modem.

Yesterday I upgraded both mine and my partners laptops to 13.04, now we are both unable to connect to the wireless router (BT HomeHub 3)Prior to the upgrade we had no problems with connecting.

I am running Ubuntu 12.10.

My laptop connects to a wireless router. Now and then, I use my broadband modem. Thus, I disconnect from the router. When I want to connect to my router again, it keeps on popping up a dialog box with the password.

I have to restart the laptop in order to connect to the router again.

Any help welcome before I smash my laptop and/or my router :)I have a Billion wired/wireless residential router connected to ADSL. Wireless with WPA is setup and working fine for ages. have a DSL modem setup with 192.168.1.1 local IP. Everything working fine. Then have a linksys wireless router that I have connected to the DSL modem. I have enabled DHCP on the wireless router, and have assigned 192.168.107.1 IP address to this router, with 255.255.255.0 as the mask.

I don't know much about wireless, so here is a question for you all.

I recently moved to a new place, which is cool. Unfortunately the modem sits in one end of the apartment and the office is at the opposite end, and routing an Ethernet cable is pretty tricky since I rent and can't really drill holes in the wall.

Modem and router are supplied by ISP.

The modem is provided with 4 sockets, only one being used and connected to the router.

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 maverick netbook edition on my Dell Latitude D830. I am dual booting windows 7 and ubuntu and recently I bought a Cisco Linksys E2000 router. I set it up with a WPA/WPA2 mixed mode security and My friends are all able to connect to it with no problems. I've been running Ubuntu for a while now and i've never had wireless problems until now.
