Hello,
Is there some 'limit' to the number of icons on the unity sidebar , because i have 26 icons on that left sidebar, and the 3 last/lowest icons(desktop/worksheetchanger/trashcan) cannot be moved to a higher place on that sidebar ...
I have been trying to make a launcher with a quicklist item for 'root file browser' using command 'gksudo nautilus'. After I updated to this launcher in the unity sidebar, each time I click the icon (which still points to the normal nautilus for left click) a separate nautilus icon appears elsewhere in the sidebar with the title 'Files'.
Ok right when I login to Ubuntu 12.10 installed via Windows installer it [Ubuntu 12.10] shows the desktop background but not the menus, sidebar or the topbar I can't even start the terminal with the keyboard shortcut.
Hey Community,
I booted up today in the standard 'Ubuntu' environment and my Unity desktop is gone. The window effects are still working, but the side bar doesn't come up. When I log in to a 2D environment, the sidebar and windows behave well, but the compiz effects don't work.
I'm thinking there's an issue with the nVidia drivers.
I installed gnome-session-fallback to get the classical gnome desktop back but its not like its supposed to be. I used to be able to right click on the topbar and add stuff to it like that. Now when I right click on it nothing happens. I can't even move the items on it anymore. Is it locked or something? If so, how do I unlock it?
This doesn't happen 100% of the time, but happens probably 50-75%.
The issue is whenever I right-click on an icon on my Unity panel, it causes the entire desktop to freeze. The right-click menu applet (you know where it says "unlock from launcher, etc.") stays on the screen and will not go away. I can still move the mouse around, but my keyboard becomes non-functional.
In previous Ubuntu nautilus supports drag and drop folder adding a bookmark to left sidebar. But Ubuntu 12.04 Precise doesn’t support this drag and drop adding nautilus sidebar shortcuts. This brief tutorial will show you how to add bookmarks/folders to nautilus sidebar in Ubuntu 12.04.
1. Launch nautilus and open a folder, then press Ctrl+D or navigate to Bookmarks -> Add Bookmarks menu.
I have recently hidden my sidebar, and I cannot for the life of me figure out where its gone to. Any suggestions as where to find it. Not only is my sidebar gone, but dash software finder libre a whole slew of apps. Please help
:D
yes, the title says it all. but there are problems. when I start the computer, Ubuntu boots properly, and takes me to the log in screen, however, once I've logged in and am taken to my desktop, there is nothing except the default wallpaper and my mouse. there is no unity sidebar, nor title bar. I can right click and access that particular menu, but that's it.
