[ubuntu] Cant boot from cd or usb

http://ubuntuforums.org – I recently installed Ubuntu for only the second time in my life recently. First time was many versions back. I have an Asus G73JH with 2 physical hard drives. On my primary drive I had the MBR and windows 7 installed. On the secondary drive i had Ubuntu installed. The MBR that was installed was Grub 1.99. I used a program on Ubuntu called Gparted (A Partition editor) to make some changes to my primary hard drive with windows on it. When i originally installed windows a while back, i cant remember why not but i had a small 40gb partition that was in front of the main win 7 os partition. So (Hardware)

System has two hard disks: 160GB SSD, which is the boot disk and 500GB RAID1 HDD.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installed as the main OS on the SSD.

I am trying to dual boot on an external USB 500GB drive using my laptop.I have Windows 7 installed and booting on 1st partition 230GB now as active primary, 2nd partition is 100GB as primary, and 3rd partition is 135GB as primary. I was intending on installing Ubuntu onto the 2nd partition.

I installed ubuntu alongside with windows 7 but I am not getting the option for ubuntu in the windows boot loader.

I have a 320 gb hard disk: C: drive - 40 gb windows has been installed on this D and E drives - 250 gb used for data

F: drive - 15 gb firstly formatted as NTFS but used gparted to change the filesyste. This is the partition I used to install ubuntu.

Hi, I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my laptop already running windows, but I just realized that a hard drive can only have 4 primary partitions (noob errors). I have a 500gb hard drive. The four partitions are the following: 1 Windows partition (450gb) with 300gb unused, a System partition from windows thats about 200mb, a 13gb partition labeled RECOVERY, and a 100mb partition labeled HP_TOOLS.

I'm having a problem getting grub to detect my XP partition.

Original configuration:-

Hard drive partitioned with primary partitions (Vista and Vista restore) and an extended partition for data did not want anything to do with Vista so I Installed XP in extended partition Vista boot manager offered Vista or XP All worked for years

Decided to remove Vista and dual boot with Ubuntu

I had ubuntu 11.04 installed on another complete hard drive thats not even connected with my main hard drive. see I Just unhooked my Windows vista hard drive. and put another drive to run ubuntu.

I've done a lot of searching for an explanation to this. I have a new computer with windows 8 pre-installed.

Ok, I had Windows 7 and Ubuntu installed on my Toshiba Satellite P755D. Ubuntu was my primary partition. That my pc booted to. I never used it, so I wanted that space on it back for windows 7. Well, I f*cked up, and when I deleted the partition, I forgot to make windows the active partition. Now, when I boot my pc it gives me the "Error: no such partition. Grub Rescue" crap.
