http://ubuntuforums.org – On Canon website downloaded their latest driver for Linux: CAPT Printer Driver for Linux Version 2.50 --10/25/12 --43.28 MB 'Linux_CAPT_PrinterDriver_V250_us_EN.tar.gz' extracted --> 'Linux_CAPT_PrinterDriver_V250_us_EN' ---> '32-bit_Driver' folder -->'Debian' folder + 'RPM' folder; Debian --> 'cndrvcups-capt_2.50-1_i386.deb' + '32-bit_Driver'. And I opened both above with Ubuntu software Center. Synaptic lists both as installed. But the printer does not respond at all when I try to print a file (says that it was sent to printer). And a search for drivers says that no propr (Hardware)

We have 3 computers with windows xp installed and two canon ir2200-ir3300 printer all connected through a router box. Each computer and each printer has ip addresses. It was configured like tcp ip enabled printer inside the local printer option. Each windows system can see both printer with ip and can select them to print.

Now we want to try ubuntu in one of the system.

Hello, I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my PC.

But I could not run my Canon i-SENSYS LBP3250 laser printer on it.

I have disabled SElinux and also installed CAPT Printer Driver for Linux V2.20 but still my printer is not printing.

Whenever I submit a print job, in printer properties it shows 'processing-sending data to printer' but nothing happens!

Can anyone help me?

Recently this model printer was moved to the paperweight section of the linux printer database, well this was a correct move for (new Installs of 11.2 ) but , there is a way around this if you have one of these printers and they are great for basic printing in linux. this is not the best way to save a printer but it worked for me and i did not have to go out and replace two printers.

I have a fresh install of Mythbuntu 12.04.01 I download and installed the Canon drivers from the Canon website: UFR II Printer Driver for Linux Version 2.50 I used the procedure at this location: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...78&postcount=8

When I print documents, I see them show up in the print queue.

So my friends who are new to Linux just bought a new printer, a Canon IP3600 because we saw that Canon Europe has a driver for that model. Also this printer has individual ink tanks and so it is easy to refill the cartridges.

Another upgrade - another treasure hunt with the Canon printer...

Actually, it works quite well under CUPS, so I shouldn't complain.

But I would like to see it work again with the Canon driver & I am not there yet.

Canon Australia doesn't have Linux drivers for iP4300 any more (sad) but they are still available from Canon Europe. http://software.canon-europe.com/

I'n new to Ubuntu/Linux and had significant difficulties while attempting to configure my printer to work. The automatic driver pairing wizard which Ubuntu uses to identify and install the appropriate drivers did not find my printer's driver. I managed to get it to print when I manually select the generic configuration and checked the PCL6 configuration.
