I want to have numlock always on in the log-in screen, but I can't get it to work - I always have to activate it manually.
I've tried out System Settings > Keyboard > Numlock > Turn on both as normal user and as root, but it simply doesn't work :(
I'm using openSuse 11.2 x64 w/ Kde 4.3.4 (updated from 4.3.1 w/ Kde repositories).
Whenever I use setxkbmap in a terminal (or my .bashrc), the next time I press any modifier keys (ctrl, shift, alt) the NumLock LED on my keyboard goes off, but NumLock itself is still active so it's in some kind of inconsistent state.
If I now press NumLock, the LED stays off but NumLock turns off, and a second press on NumLock turns both the numpad and the LED on again.
I'm having a weird issue here.
I am trying to force numlock to be on upon initial boot at the login screen on Ubuntu 12.04
The only solutions I have found so far switch numlock on only after initial login.
I'm looking to force numlock to be on when the login screen is displayed, and before the user has logged in.
Can anyone assist?
EDIT:
NOT an exact duplicate, as I need numlock on BEFORE I login not after.
Hi, after the last update - I can't seem to disble mousekeys. This was magicly turned on.
I need help, it is very strange problem:
when I press the number '8' from the numlock numbers of my keyboard, the functions is to increase the volume sound, when I press '2' - decrease, when I hit the 'enter' from the numlock pad it opens the home directory of the linux... Please help any suggestions, because it is freaking hell
so, this is a pretty funny one. the powerbutton on my laptop powers off my computer. i recently discovered it doesn't do that when numlock is on. so my numlock acts as a powerbutton safety switch. this can be useful, and in fact i might even leave it like it is now. but what intrigues me is how the hell this happens. so i was hoping anyone had any idea.
Hi!I'm using SLiM 1.3.3-3 with the "auto_login" and "numlock" features switched on. Since a recent update, numlock is no longer set when SLiM automatically logs me in. (It is, however, set properly when I log out and the SLiM login screen thus appears.) This used to work before the update. Did anyone have the same problem and has some idea how to solve it?
Hello,Edit: I can now toggle it with Shift-ScrLk (I had thought the appropriate keycombo was Fn-ScrLk) from my main keyboard.
