I have a Dell inspiron 2500 PIII with Xubuntu 9.04
It's working well enough but when I try to shut it down it goes through the motions and stops at system is halted. then it will shut off with a touch to the power button. Where would I start looking to try and get it to shut all the way off without me pressing the power button?
Hello,
I bought a new Toshiba Satellite C870-15J with Windows 7 installed.
Made a dual boot with Xubuntu 12.04.
When I shut down Xubuntu, the system seems to turn itself completely off, but after some seconds I hear a click, and the system reboots itself.
The same when I shut down via the terminal with "sudo shutdown -h now".
In the power manager I changed the value for the onn-off butto
I have a brand new Acer Aspire V5 with Windows 7 and 12.10 alongside it. When I shut down 12.10 by clicking on shut down the system restarts, It does this every time. The only way I can power down from 12.10 is by pressing and holding the power key or booting windows and shutting it down. I have read postings similar to this, all Aser aspire models, on other forums with no replies.
for some reason, my opensuse 11.2 can not shut down as normal.
by pressing ctrl-alt-F1 and issuing "init 0", the console displays the following messages and then stops there.
Segmentation fault
Master Resource control: runlevel 0 has been reached
skipped services in runlevel 0: SuSEfirewall2_setup
Recently I installed openSUSE 11.2 (GNOME) on my HP DC7100 machine. I was very excited about it until shortly, when I started discovering the problems.
One of the more severe problems is that I can't shut down the system:
I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my Acer Aspire 5742G recently but I can't neither put it to hibernation nor suspend it. If I hibernate it then when I press the power to wake it up, it doesn't show anything on the display and I have to force power it down (by pressing the power for a few seconds), and press the power again.
So, I have been running Ubuntu for about a month now. I chose to encrypt when I installed, so I am prompted for the password I set when I boot.
hey all
I've been on Ubuntu for a couple months now, and love it. I have a few minor issues though.
-when told to "shut down" ubuntu cannot turn my computer off. Randomly it will do a full power down, but more often then not it will shut down the os and halt at a blank screen, and I have to hold the power button down to fully power down.
Hi All,
I just received a brand new Galaxy Note II from T-Mobile.
When I put in the battery, the phone automatically start up.
