hi,
i was trying to share folders between my ubuntu 12.10 and a winxp. tried to install samba and got an error (package name was samba4, btw), and a suggestion to remove a certain file (which i shouldn't have, but did...). during the same session i also changed my workgroup from WORKGROUP to HOME.
after restarting my ubuntu i can't login to any user account!
I'm running samba on Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS, I've some folders on samba share and created some user to access it, but suddenly some of the user are not able to access it for a certain time only.
For i.e:
There are 5 users as A,B,C,D,E and there are two folders in samba share name as "test" and "develop"
"test" doesn't have any user access password but "develop" has user access with password.
I am browsing Shared folders on a Windows network through Samba.
When I first opened a system on the network I was asked for a login username, password and I checked the save-password setting. Now the shared folder opens directly without asking for authentication.
I want to browse the folder using a different user which has more access rights. How should I do that?
I would like to know how I would properly mount my windows harddrives in my VM ( debian ) and share it with samba so that other users can access it without a password.
I'm going this way because I would like to access the folders on my mediacenter and with windows i had no luck at all to get this to work, now I've got it working but it keeps asking me for a username and password which is very ano
Hey all,
I had my PC set up nice and then i used computer janitor to remove things. I forgot to tell it not to mess with my settings so i have had to redo everything.
I have samba installed and it can see my PC over network but it asks for username and password.
Hi,
I've having some problems with configuring my samba network.
I want 1 network share with folders that can only be access by an username without password. The folders in the share must have full access also without authentication.
I've tried different things and im realy confused right now.
What are the requirements in de smb.conf at the global tab so i can realize this?
I noticed a while ago that i have no luck in samba networking if I don't click "allow Guests to login". Every time I enter username and password it denies access.
Where do I start? I tried a few different usernames and of course my ubuntu password on the Windows boxes. No go.
I am trying to set up a samba file server (on 12.04) that will authenticate through our existing Windows 2008 r2 active directory server. My smb.conf is below.
Hi,
I'm not sure if this belongs in here, or the networking forum. Apologies if I made the wrong choice.
I've set up our home network to have shared folders on an Ubuntu server. Each folder can only be accessed by specific user accounts on the server. None of the folders them are have 777 permissions and none is owned by nobody.nogroup.
This works fine with Samba.
