Basically, I have a question about what Richard Stallman said here : http://www.fsf.org/blogs/rms/ubuntu-spyware-what-to-do .
Is this spyware installed on ubuntu 12.04 too? Is ubuntu 12.04 affected?
As a recent user of ubuntu, I wonder are computers themselves designed and built with
windows in mind? An example of what i mean, I have installed ubuntu on two machines
and on both some of the functions relative to the computer are gone, ie; acer empowering technology, lenovo toolbox.
I recently installed Ubuntu for only the second time in my life recently. First time was many versions back. I have an Asus G73JH with 2 physical hard drives. On my primary drive I had the MBR and windows 7 installed.
I just recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 alongside with my Windows 7, and when I restarted my computer after the installation it doesn't give me a menu asking me whether I want to use Ubuntu or Windows 7, it just goes to Ubuntu. Please help me because I need to use a lot of programs that I can only use on Windows.

I installed Ubuntu 12.10 last night. First I mounted downloaded ubuntu 12.10 iso on a DVD from Windows 7, then I restarted, changed the boot option to DVD and let the Ubuntu DVD run. I selected "Install ubuntu alongside windows 7". In the next step I allocated the diskspace .
I had windows 7 installed on my system ( not the genuine copy ), somehow it caught up into the windows update and then it started causing problem. I had ubuntu installed inside Windows at that time. (using wubi)
I "System Restored" my windows a couple of times and it seemed to be working fine for some time.
A tale told by an idiot.
It was 6 o'clock in the mourning I haven't gone to bed all night. I was looking at random programs on the internet. And I installed Ubuntu on my Windows Vista Toshiba Labtop. Computer screen went black nothing was working so I held the power button down. Now computer won't boot.
I have spent 24 hours doing everything you could think of to re-boot my computer.
