Hi,
I am running 12.04 on my laptop- which has been working fine. This morning, the laptop ran out of battery and suspended. When I brought it backup it would only allow a guest login.
I rebooted - and all I can login as is guest.
From guest I can su to my normal username ok.
My userid is 1459094701 (it's an ldap login).
Any ideas on how to fix?
Cheers,
Ian.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 with wubi installer which is done successfully. But I am facing two major problems
I need to login with root user but I cannot. I set the terminal commands for root access like sudo .. root etc but while login to ubuntu it is showing me only two options login using username which I entered during the installation and guest login.
Hi. I'm trying to create an application to make a login screen launch at boot. This application will *(hopefully)* force users to login using an username and a password before they are able to use the home, back, menu and search buttons. So far, I have done *MOST* of the coding and as far as I can see, the login app works.
Hi, I have used older versions of Ubuntu previously with no problems, but recently installed Kubuntu 12.04 onto my netbook, and set the option to login without username/password prompt.
I am using Ubuntu 11.10 which was working fine till today.
If I try to login using one of my user accounts it directs me back to the login screen, which is followed by a black screen.
I am sure the password I enter is correct because if the password is wrong it prompts "Invalid Password".
On the other hand I am able to login using a root or guest account.
I have the latest version of Samba, latest Ubuntu build, and have enabled Samba and decided to share 2 folders from my home folder on the linux box. I chose to not allow guest access and to require a password to login. The shared folders do show up on my XP box, but when I click on them and it prompts me for a username and password, the login info entered doesn't work.
Thanks in advance for any help. Ubuntu 12.04
Up until recently my mother has been using the Guest Session when she logs on; now, the Guest Session will not login.
Hello dear friends of linux
I am neither a newbie nor an expert. I am administering a debian webserver (lenny) and run into a strange problem respectively new behaviour.
Upgraded 'saucy' kernel to latest version - 3.9.0-6.
Now I can no longer log in.
The login screen appears, shows username and accepts the (correct) password.
'Enter' results in a black screen with a brief message just flying by. I cannot red the entire message, but it is something like
"drm-enable. . . .
