I have recently bought a HP Envy DV7-7201 which had Windows 8 on it. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 alongside it and everything was fine at home. I could access the internet through my wireless router (RTA10235WE) using Ubuntu.
I am visiting family for the holidays who have a Vodafone EasyBox wireless router. Windows 8 connects to the router fine.
have a DSL modem setup with 192.168.1.1 local IP. Everything working fine. Then have a linksys wireless router that I have connected to the DSL modem. I have enabled DHCP on the wireless router, and have assigned 192.168.107.1 IP address to this router, with 255.255.255.0 as the mask.
I have a Dynex DX-WGRTR v1000 router which I use hardwired without the wireless turned on. Since my 12.04 clean install I have had internet since but recently when I went to access the router itself, I can't access it nor can I ping it. The access IP address for the router is 192.168.2.1 which was set by the manufacturer.
So I installed Ubuntu 10.10 and clicked on the wireless button in the top right corner and it detects my wireless just fine. But when I click on the name of my wireless network Ubuntu asks for my password and encryption, the four it lets me choose from are not the ones I have my router set to.
My ubuntu 12.04 LTS never connected to my router wirelessly. I have to use a wired connection with an ethernet cable. The router is directly next to my PC. And the wireless connection works fine for everyone else in the house, two other Windows and an Apple Mac, and for my Windows package installed dually with Ubuntu.
How can I fix this?
Hi all,
I really hope I'm not doing anything dumb here. I've got Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop and have recently (within the last 72 hours) started having trouble connecting to other machines on my local network. I'm unable to ping both my router and a server set up in the room beside me.
1. I have tried pinging my server and router from other machines and it works fine.
I have very little understanding (ok no technical ability so be gentle)
Ubuntu 10.10 connects to a DSL modem without any problems - I mean I just plugged it in and it worked - GREAT
I bought a wireless router so I could connect my netbook and now my Ubuntu machine which is simply using a cable from the wireless router now DOES NOT connect.
I tried a windows machine on the wired connection from
Thinkpad t410, ubuntu 10.04.01 64 bit, can not access internet suddenly by wireless router(Netgear WGR612) today.
I can get ip address from rounter, and can ping 192.168.1.1, but can not access http://192.168.1.1, telnet 192.168.1.1 80 showed me connection refused error, the weired thing is my another windows xp laptop can access internet through the same wireless router.
Andbody can help me?
As of yesterday I have only been able to access the guest wifi account from my wireless router. At first I thought it was a router issue, but 3 other pc's on the network have no issues. I am running ubuntu on 2 of them and windows 7 on the third. This machine is running ubuntu 12.10, and again i can only access the guest wifi account on my router. This only started yesterday.
