[ubuntu] Can editing .bashrc lead to security issues?

view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I am trying to define some commands for my convenience but worried a bit if editing .bashrc can lead to security issues. (I read long ago that .bashrc or .bash_profile are often edited by intruders, if I remember correctly so it is better to know the correct way to edit.) I plan to do use the commands: Code: gksudo gedit .bashrc& add: alias com1='command_1' Also, what is the difference between editing .bashrc and .bash_profile? I am unable to locate the .bash_profile.
