Hello,
I have 2 video cards (onboard and an internal one). After installing the latest Kubuntu last week the second monitor is not working at all. I have tried following the steps in this article to no avail (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI)
Ok, imagine I'm going to a (web) shop to buy a graphics card to be used with Ubuntu (9.04 or 9.10) PC. For simplicity's sake, let's assume it's the only (enabled) graphics adpater in the PC.
I am running Ubuntu 12.04; the pc's graphics card is a Radeon HD797M, with Intel switchable graphics.
My problem seems similar to some already reported (e.g. here) but the solutions in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI fail in my case.

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy), with an NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS video card. The system worked fine until I recently did an update, using the update manager. When I restarted the system, it went into low graphic mode and I could not re-establish the NVIDIA card. I booted up in 640x480 mode (which I am still in) and have attempted to fix the situation but to no avail.

I'm not updating to Ubuntu 12.10, because they've seriously messed things up in it and from what I've seen from my friends, it is also glitchy.
What I am wondering is how to install the AMD Catalyst 12.10 Drivers in Ubuntu 12.04.
I have a Radeon HD 6600M which is working fine with my current drivers, which are the AMD Catalyst 12.6's or 12.8's, not sure.
