[ubuntu] Camera and Card Reader "no medium detected"

http://ubuntuforums.org – USB problems. All was well last time I connected my camera(Fuji A204) a long while back. Now it is not recognised. Neither is my card reader. I have tried different cards in both with the same result. USB pen drives and my scanner work OK. lsusb/dmesg shows the devices. Disk Utility lists both camera and card reader "no memory detected". All SD cards work in the camera and both devices work under Win 7. I hate to have to use Windoze. (Hardware)

I have a fuji finepix s3000 but it wont do anything when I plug it into the usb slot. The card reader does not work either. I use an ACER Aspire 5610z laptop. Is this camera just incompatable with ubuntu, is there a card reader that will work? I will even buy a new camera if anyone can tell me one that works!

Searched far and wide for some remedy to this. Any constructive assistance much appreciated.Anyone familiar with how to create suitable command line under Thunar volume manager "camera" tab, to initialize image file contents of XD card in USB-connected camera?Presently there are no signs of life from XD card when camera is connected via USB.

I suspect the answer is "just doesn't work", but it seems odd to me.

My laptop's card reader works fine for SD cards but completely ignores xD cards: when you plug in an xD card there is nothing in syslog; nothing pops up in nautilus. The same xD card + reader works fine in Windows.

Anyone know whether this is just an unsupported thing?

I'm running 12.04.2, and I've got an Alcor Micro Corp. Flash Card Reader/Writer (usb ID 058f:6362). Occasionally, I'll have a flash card fail, or get messed up, and the card will go "read only". The problem is that the reader seems to go read-only, because all subsequent cards plugged into the reader are now marked read-only as well.

I have a problem with reading photos from my camera.

I am unable to mount SD cards on my Acer Aspire One 756-2420 (running Crunchbang Waldorf).If I start the machine with the card in the slot, it mounts, but otherwise it won't detect it.I can automatically mount and unmount these cards on someone else's Ubuntu laptop, but not on this machine's internal card reader.lf I run lspci, this is what I find:04:00.1 SD Host controller: Broadco

So I have 3 old video capture cards which I would like to use for CCTV. Each card supports 1 camera. So I would like to have 3 cameras setup in the end and monitor them with zoneminder.

When each card is plugged in on it's own, it works fine. Video comes through clearly with xawtv and zoneminder.

just bought a new hp p6270z. everything works except media card reading. even the media cards in my usb-connected printer don't work (the card reader in the printer worked on my old pc with jaunty). i tried 9.10 karmic live cd, and the card readers work (both the internal and printer). however, i tried 9.10 when it came out and i just hate it.

and thank you all for giving time to try to help I have an internal card reader in my HP Pavilion DV6-6155ca and the card reader is a "multi-card media reader" (I know this means nothing but trying to be though) and the device is the RTS5209 PCI Express Card Reader. I am running ubuntu 12.10

When I insert a sd card nothing happens at all.
