I am using ubuntu 9.04 on ATI RADEON HD 2400 PRO Card. After installing ubunbtu when i tried to enable ati restricted driver from system-hardware (for enabling 3d Effects ie compiz ) I found a blank screen and on above it shows "No Proprietary Drivers are in use on this system".
I am having horrible issues from setting up the driver for my graphics card. Currently Ubuntu will run but to change any of the preferences for the display (30in HP monitor) it won't accept Normal or Extra... errs with "Desktop effect could not be enabled".
Hi,
I just installed a BFG Nvidia based geforce 7950 gt OC edition card. the system is a updated / upgraded Lucid LTS. I have tried to get the drivers working by using nvidia-current and by adding the x-swat ppa and installing the 256.x series driver. I can in some cases get the card to function in 2d. I am unable to get compiz / effects working.
Hi,
I'v been struggling for many days on getting my ATI Radeon X600 and X1650 XT card work on Ubuntu 9.04 and 12.04.
I have two powerpc based board/system, one installed Ubuntu 9.04, another with Ubuntu 12.04.
Both system installed Xserver-xorg-video-ati, they are latest updated for their corresponding system. However,
both system can not get those cards to work.
I have agp radeon HD 3450 graphic card. I've tried using proprietary driver but i couldn't do a bunch of stuff, movies stuck, etc.. Anyway now i use open source driver from ubuntu repositories, the one that is installed with system.
My problem is this. Resoluton of the screen that best fits me is 1152x644. But in monitor properties i can't set this resolition. Only 1024x768 and 1280x1024.
My friend has a computer with an ATI Radeon x1950 Pro graphics card installed. A few months ago, (he was using Windows XP) his display stopped working. All we could tell was the boot was successful but his monitor was displaying a "NO SIGNAL" message.
I just installed a Radeon HD 6790. Before that, I was only using the on board card, and even before that, I had the Radeon 6770 in there. I still had the proprietary driver installed.
When I started up the computer with the new card, the command lspci showed that I had a "Radeon HD 6700 Series" card.
Okay, after I updated the compiz and compiz-gnome packages along with about 40 others a while ago it broke on me so I had to restore GNOME to default configuration. I tried to get Compiz running again after that but it complained that the window manager wasn't visible on display 0 even with the --replace option.
I'm not sure what happened, desktop effects was working after a fresh install of Jaunty (fading windows, etc).
