Sorry, I know there are dozens of threads titled "no proprietary drivers are in use on this system," but none of them answered my question. Most of them centered around nVidia drivers.
I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on an Acer Aspire AM3970. I can't for the life of me get the wireless to work.
Hello all. I've been searching for a solution to this problem forever now but I can't seem to find any solution that works. I just installed Fedora 17 and was working on getting the wireless drivers installed. My laptop has a Broadcom BCM4312 network controller (seems to be troublesome for a lot of people).
Hi I just deleted my windows XP and installed Ubuntu 9.10 earlier this morning. I used wired connection to get drivers for my wireless network card.
When I did lspci, the very last line states:
Network Controller: Broadcom Coporation BCM4311 902.11b/g WLAN(rev 01)
Hey ladies and gentle(?)men,I am having issue with my broadcom built in wireless, which appears to be very common unfortunately.I am trying #! on my old Presario M2000 laptop, my good one got attacked by the kids and is consequently... well... screwed.#! itself is running surprisingly good on this old piece of crap and I am very much pleased.
I have an Acer emachines E725 and have installed Ubuntu 12.04 using wubi. Initially there was no wireless but I installed the "Additional Drivers" program and installed the Broadcom STA wireless driver.
When I install/enable the driver, the wireless device works well. But if I shut the computer down or restart it, it will deactivate automatically.
I need to get the wireless working on this HP dv9005us, I ran lspci and it says the card is "Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 1)" and so far I've tried the method that says "Installing drivers for the BCM4311,4312,4321,4322 Cards" on this page and in hardware drivers it says
Ok, so this is my (anoying) problem
It's imposible to activate any Hardware Drivers (proprietary)
I just installed ubuntu, so i don't see why this would happen.
I haved installed ubuntu and activated drivers before.
But this time, just as soon as i click the ''activate'' button, it hangs in there, for ever, and for ever, for ever...
I have an Acer Aspire 3690 laptop who's ethernet adapter is not working due to IRQ conflict with the mouse (that's what is reported during startup....press F1 to continue or F2 to setup). I tried to change settings in setup but there is not much other than boot menu that can be changed and could solve the problem.
I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 but the wireless driver is not working.
My laptop (Dell Inspiron 17R 5720) came with preinstalled Ubuntu 11.10. I removed it and installed 12.04. Now I can't find driver for wireless. Apparently, in 11.10 there was Broadcom-STA driver. But in 12.04 there is no additional drivers to install. I tried using:
sudo m-a a-i broadcom-sta
But building fails on 26%.
