I have a hp dv6-7014nr and I just installed ubuntu on it and after some trouble I have my wireless working for the most part. The one last problem I have is that wireless N still is not working, I can only access G networks.
My wireless card is the BCM4313 broadcom wireless adapter.I am using the "bcmwl-kernel-source" driver.

i just got ubuntu yesterday and had to play around with some settings and the fw-cutter tool to get my wireless working and it was...although i upgraded the kernel to 2.6.32-25-generic...and it stopped working. the simple solution is to use the previous kernel version...the wireless works there, but thats just not good enough for me 8) ... it recognizes my card is there it just wont connect.
I'm following the instructions here to install whatever my wireless card needs to function. The latest kernel build in which I can get both my wireless and my nvidia graphics card to work ends in .40.
Following these instructions in the latest build results in the following error: "insmod: error inserting 'wl.ko': -1 invalid module format"
Any advice?
I just installed Kubuntu 10.10 on my MacBook 3,1 and found no wireless connection. Using KPackageKit I activated Broadcom b43 because it had already been selected for me. When I subsequently tried to activate Broadcom STA, however, I was returned with an error. After reading Jockey log I removed the wrong driver and reinstalled all drivers so that I can activate the correct one.
I installed the header and image packages for kernel 2.6.38-13-generic under Ubuntu 10.04, but now the Nvidia and Broadcom drivers keep crashing when I attempt to install them.
I tried running sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source but get the error:

I recently moved into an apartment building which provides free wifi, allowing me to finally be rid of Clearwire. I went out and bought a Netgear WN311B PCI wireless card, and it works perfectly with WinXP (go figure...).
I just installed Kramic Koala, but the wireless does not work. It did work in Ubuntu 9.04. I think it is because of the Kernel that it doesn't work. I tired to install, and reinstall, the package bcmwl-kernel-source but no luck. I tired to go to the Hardware Drivers, but it said "not in use." I tried to click "activate" but nothing happened.
I need to install any working driver for wireless for this laptop, however, after re-installing bcmwl-kernel-source which was installed with OS, I get this:
modprobe wl

this driver previously worked but I was trying to get some alternative, because this driver is proprietary and didn't work with kerne
