Hey everyone, a long time ago I had a Laptop that had Ubuntu and Windows XP Professional on it. One day it just shut down so I turned it back on and it said "BOOTMGR missing or corrupt." So I got the recovery disc and tried to do a recovery. Didn't work. There's more then just the BOOTMGR problem and I can't even access the Windows Partition from GParted on Ubuntu.
I downloaded 12.04 32-bit ISO and am trying to make a USB stick with it for me to boot from and install on my HD. I followed the instructions in UNetbootin but my USB stick is missing its bootmgr so it won't boot.
Any advice? I don't have a CD-burner nor a CD-ROM on my laptop which I am trying to install on.
Alrighty then, where do I begin. This installation has been quite a challenge to say the least. So much for user friendly. Friend of mine told me hey try Unbuntu, I though hey I just upgraded my gaming rig with a mobo and processor, I got some parts left over I'll build a multi boot machine with several operating systems on it. Starting with my favorite, Win7. What the?
Hello!
First I'd like to say that I have missed useing Unbuntu. I have been learning a couple of programs that require a different OS that are related to my work as a musician. To make a long story shorter I built a second computer and loaded it with Unbuntu. I utilized an ASUS M3a76-CM motherboard that is loaded with ATI video and realteck audio and is relatively inexpensive.
HELP!!!!!
This is my first time to try to install a Linux OS on a computer. I have two computers with freshly formatted hard drives, and I want to install Fedora 18 on both of them.
I installed ubuntu on my PC using the "unbuntu installer for windows" on the ubuntu webpage. When I restart my computer, the selection screen appears, I pick ubuntu, it says "installing buntu files", shows the ubuntu loading page, then cycles back through to the selection screen.
Despite a re-install and several reboots, unbuntu will not open.
I have attempted to remove Ubuntu from a dual boot system (Windows XP, SP3) by deleting partitions, using both the Ubuntu install CD and GParted. Neither worked for me; instead, all I did was manage to install a new version of Ubuntu each time. Now, I have 3 versions of Ubuntu and one of XP. Trouble is, I cannot boot up XP.
I downloaded an OS uninstaller, and uninstalled Windows and all its backups. I just want Ubuntu on my laptop. So when I turned it back on, Bootmgr is missing press any key to restart. Any way around this?
