http://ubuntuforums.org – Basically, I installed Ubuntu on a different partition, from my windows. Then, when I turned on my computer, it had the Ubuntu boot manager. I installed easyBCD. Now, when I turned on my computer, here is what happens: to go into Windows: Ubuntu Bootloader(select windows)--> Windows Bootloader(select windows) to go into Ubuntu: Ubuntu bootloader(select Ubuntu) Then, I installed grub manager in Ubuntu, and made it so it will automatically go into the windows when I turn on my computer, thinking that if it goes into windows, I can select either Ubuntu or windows to boot into. (Hardware)

I installed windows 7 first and then Ubuntu, booted back into windows and used EasyBCD to use the Windows 7 bootloader for dual booting. So when the system is rebooted Windows bootloader comes up first and once you select Ubuntu then GRUB shows up.

I need to how to make GRUB the default bootloader instead of windows 7's.

How to Repair Grub 28 weeks 1 day ago

Yesterday I installed ubuntu 12.04.1.

Note : its a dual boot system along windows 7

At first grub was appearing and i was able to start ubuntu but then i had to switch to windows but windows was not booting when i select windows 7 it jumps back to grub window. So i fix the Windows Boot Loader using repair from windows media and wolla windows started to boot but Ubuntu Grub gone.

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a single disc which already had Windows 7 x64 on it. Windows was on two primary partitions, a very large partition C: and a small 100 mb partition. I've been using this computer for the past year with no problems.

During the installation of Ubuntu, I made four partitions: 1) /boot, 2)/(root), 3)/home and 4) SWAP.

Original title: How can i solve (un)booting windows 7 on the same partition with grub?

I've been researching for 2/3 days about this problem and I have came up empty.

Basically, partition 1 is Windows 7 and partition 2 is Ubuntu 12.04. I told Ubuntu to install into partition 2 and to install grub on partition 1 and that works fine. But the problem now is that I can't boot to Windows 7.

I have a computer with 2 operating systems dual booted: One is Windows 7 and the other is Ubuntu. My Ubuntu installation is installed within the Windows partition via wubi.exe.

I'm not using grubby, but windows 7's default bootloader.

I have installed ubuntu alongside windows 7 in a brand new computer and it worked fine for some days. Eventually, Windows showed some problems, but after a safety mode initialization it was working again. Then, Ubuntu cracked and I couldn't use it. After that, I have reinstalled Windows using the recovery CD and now I can't boot from the CD.

Dual boot to windows 7 28 weeks 2 days ago

i just installed ubuntu 12.10 alongside windows 7 but now my computer automatically boots to ubuntu. i want windows 7 as my default operating system. when i start up my laptop it shows me no settings or any screen asking me what operating system to use.

I'm a novice in the Linux world. Windows 7 is my primary OS. Trying to run Ubuntu with Windows. Failed so far.

I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 in a second hard disk. I chose second hard disk's MBR to store boot record for Ubuntu. So /dev/sda contains Windows bootloader and /dev/sdb contains Ubuntu bootloader (I think).

The installation went without any problem.

Hello, I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and I can't get back into windows (no such device / file not found when trying to load windows boot loader from grub)

I have an SSD(sdb) and 2 TB HDD(sda).
