Hi everyone,
I've searched everywhere to see if others had the same problem (both forums and general internet search). No luck.
I can run Banshee fine, import an iTunes music library, and play music. But when I plug in my iPod (Nano G5), instead of detecting the iPod, Banshee freezes. Now Ubuntu itself detects the iPod just fine.
Banshee is a media management and playback application for the GNOME desktop, allowing users to import audio from CDs, search their library, create playlists of selections of their library, sync music to/from iPods and other media devices, play and manage video files and burn selections to a CD.

I'm trying to import songs off of CDs that are in mono. I can import them in Banshee or Rhythmbox, but the result is a stereo MP3, and I reason that if the mono songs are in stereo, then they're taking up twice as much space as they should be.
When I plug my ipod touch in and open Banshee, The itouch is recognized and I can play music I had previously synced from itunes but when I click the itouch icon the scroll bars only come up on the screen for music, podcasts and audiobooks but not videos. I think that it may not work because most of my videos are AVI of FLV.
I have installed Banshee and set it as the default sound player in Details/Default Applications/Music. However, when I click on any MP3 file, it opens with Rhythmbox. If I right click on it, I can select and play it with Banshee but it is not the default. How can I fix this without removing Rhythmbox completely.
I have banshee 2.2.1 with Ubuntu 11.10
I have been trying to update banshee to 2.4 (released yesterday) but it just isnt working, I have been using
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/ppa
in terminal, from the Banshee.fm website.
I had to reload my sound drivers because ubuntu had stopped recognizing my sound drivers and I got sound back except from banshee. I have played videos and those worked fine. Everything else seems to have sound. I checked the volume within banshee and it was all the way up. I tried upgrading banshee and it the highest upgrade. I tried downgrading banshee and same thing no sound.
How come I am able to play m4a music files in :
- Amarok
- VLC Media Player
- MPlayer (with some flashing error messages though)
and not in :
- Banshee (asks to search for a suitable codec, but that leads me nowhere)
- Rhythmbox (same as Banshee)
- Totem (error message : GStreamer encountered a general stream error)
Sorry for the lame question - I'm stuck with dial-up at home. Trying out OpenSUSE on a PC with no internet connection.
