Hi all! First of all, a big thank you for all volunteers who worked on this amazing distro.
I have trouble with sound on a fresh installation of 12.04. I have just installed a new graphics card and with that, I decided to install 12.04 from scratch. Previously, the computer ran 11.04 and I reused the old /home partition.

Soundblaster Audigy sound card

I was opening my phonon configuration to check what backends I have and since then I don't have any sound at all. In the Device Preferences, my "SB Audigy Degital Sterei (IEC958)" and "SB Audigy Analog Stereo" are always grayed out.
I'm running the latest stable version of Ubuntu (9.10) live on a USB key, and I essentially want to test my Sabrent TV/FM Radio tuner card SBT-TVFM. This card works fine in Windows just by using the automatic updates. I read articles suggesting how to remove the saa7134 module and reload it with the correct card and tuner options to get it working in Ubuntu. And I get video, which is great!
Hi,I'm looking for a new soundcard, but options seem to be limited. I've run into/know about the following issues:All Creative cards are hacks. Their architechture is always a bad kludge of components thrown together.
My audio card (Audigy Sound Blaster) was noisy (it sounded like a scratchy record previously on Windows XP but got much worse on Ubuntu) so I bought a cheap new StarTech 4CH card. When I put it in the PCI slot and booted up, my system ceased to acknowledge there was a sound card on board. I swapped back to the Audigy that functioned noisily before and it wasn't recognized either.
Hello pals.

05:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 03)
But, with volume levels on max, no sound.
Hey guys,
I've read what feels like every forum post going with regards to this issue, nothing is helping, ive got no sound from my soundcard and yet Pulse volume metre for playback shows sound.
Every time I restart the computer, the Sound Card in "Sound and Video Configuration" at "Phonon" under "Audio Hardware Setup" is reset to "HD-Audio Generic".
Which does not work, so I select "SB Audigy" instead and sound works just fine. Until I restart the computer.
