I have a new (last Friday) install of Fedora 17 on a Samsung R60plus laptop. I'm using the KDE spin.
Initially, the keyboard works fine (not sure about the function keys as I haven't checked all of them but mostly works, at least). The touchpad mostly works. I can't get it configured as I wish but it is possible that this is a hardware limitation.
I have a keyboard with a built-in touchpad that I often use with my laptop, but while the laptop's built-in touchpad does support scrolling by stroking the right-hand edge of the touchpad, the touchpad on the external keyboard does not. Is there any way to add this functionality? Or better yet, is there any way to emulate the two-finger scrolling (vertical and horizontal) as on the Mac?
I have a hp pavilion g6 laptop. My keyboard has stopped working so I cannot use laptop keyboard to change the brightness. The issue is my brightness is set at 0 so I cannot see anything once ubuntu loads. I have attached an external keyboard via usb, I was wondering how can I change the brightness using the external keyboard. Is there a way.
I am using ubuntu 11.10.
I want the following 3 things:
1. I have dell inspiron 5110 laptop. There is button at the top right corner of laptop which can be used for turning the screen off. It works in windows but it does not work in ubuntu 11.10. Even in the manual of the laptop, it the button is supported only in windows. Is there a way to activate it in ubuntu 11.10?
2.
The usb keyboard that I have connected to my Dell E6430 running ubunthu 12.04 with gnome 3 does not open the activites overlay when i press the "windows key" on the usb keyboard.
It works just fine when I use the laptop keyboard.
I used
~$ sudo /lib/udev/keymap -i
To find what the key code was and in both cases (laptop and external keyboard) it is leftmeta.
I have an Asus laptop running Linux that I leave running for several weeks at a time. I never put it in hibernate or suspend, I only close the lid when I'm not using it. After a few days or weeks of running, the touchpad and keyboard will Both lock up (at the same time) for no apparent reason.
Hello,
I have this issue on my Acer 3820TG laptop. When using the fn key to disable the touch pad, the keyboard stops working as well until you restart the laptop. Using the keys to re enable the touch pad works, but the keyboard still doesn't work until the reboot. I have reinstalled and get the same issue, and linux Mint also gets the same issue.
Thank you in advance.
I'm running xubuntu 12.04 on a 2007 macbook.
I'm using the laptop with external screen, keyboard and mouse.
Yesterday after a dist-upgrade and after I unplugged the external keyboard I noticed that the Lapotop's keyboard was mapped to whatever (J = 1 , L = 3 , M = 0 e.t.c.) however I can login and type perfectly in the login screen and as a guest.
Any suggestions on how to get more information a
