http://ubuntuforums.org – I want to install the open source one from ubuntu. but I don't know how! I was reading a guide but it didnt make ANY bit of since.. what is the easiest, quickest way to install this open-source driver? I need it to watch youtube and play flash games (oh and compiz fusion!). Thanks. EDIT: IT DOES NOT SHOW UP UNDER HARDWARE DRIVERS IN THE ADMINISTRATION PANEL. Thanks again! (Hardware)

I have a question on ATI Drivers. From what I understand there is 2 ways of installing it. One is to go to Hardware drivers that's under System->Administration and activate Restricted ATI driver. Second way is to go to amd.com and download latest driver and then install it.

I wonder what the state / performance of the open source ATI driver is now, when compared to the closed source driver for 'old' cards.

currently, I'm stuck with Ubuntu 8.10, as that's the last edition that comes with the 'old' ATI drivers, that support my ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 card. (which is 'old' according to ATI/AMD, even though it's a 3 year old top-of-the-line card).

I have an Asus G60Jx from Best Buy. It has an Nvidia Gforce 360m video card with 1gb of ddr5 video ram. I have tried the x drivers from yast and they do not work. I get a garbled screen and can not log in. I can only use the fail safe option to log into Open Suse 11.3. What is the easiest way to install Nvidia drivers?
