In Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal), there is no additional drivers section in system settings, in fact, it has moved to a new tab in software sources.
I want to get a new laptop with a decent graphics card. I don't care that nVidia's drivers are closed source as long as they're good. I've heard that ATI drivers are buggier and I was wondering which card would be best. I have options like GT 240M, GT 320M, Radeon HD 4670. In theory I think 4670 is fastest, but if it is going to cause computer bugs it's not what I want. So my question is...
Hi,
I have recently installed ubuntu 11.10 on my Dell Studio XPS 1645 laptop. Almost everything was recognized correctly and ubuntu runs great.
My only real problem is that my fan runs all the time.
I have agp radeon HD 3450 graphic card. I've tried using proprietary driver but i couldn't do a bunch of stuff, movies stuck, etc.. Anyway now i use open source driver from ubuntu repositories, the one that is installed with system.
My problem is this. Resoluton of the screen that best fits me is 1152x644. But in monitor properties i can't set this resolition. Only 1024x768 and 1280x1024.
I have a HP Touchsmart TX2 with an Ati Radeon HD 3200 graphics card. I want to use it to dj with mixxx. Mixxx uses Open GL to display the waveform, and I cannot live without that feature.
I am using Ubuntu 12.04(32-bit) and I installed the AMD Radeon drivers from the Ubuntu repos using Additional Drivers. After installing the proprietary driver I experienced a lot of screen tearing. So I enabled tear Free Desktop to reduce tearing. It has reduced the screen tearing a bit but it is still pretty bad.
For some reason I cannot get this card too work on Ubuntu 9.10. I removed the proprietary driver and installed the open source driver, but I'm not sure what to do from there. Would someone mind helping me out. Kinda annoyed with the 1280x1024 resolution.
Note : I'm using the 64-bit installation
Hi i got couple of questions , im new to Ubuntu . I have instaled Ubuntu 11.04 updated to 11.10 , instaled original driver for radeon hd 4XXX and fglrx from "hardware drivers". Now fglrxinfo show "Ati radeon hd 4500" so its ok for this card , but as i remember windows experience with this driver the performance on it was worse than original ati 5145 .
I just installed a Radeon HD 6790. Before that, I was only using the on board card, and even before that, I had the Radeon 6770 in there. I still had the proprietary driver installed.
When I started up the computer with the new card, the command lspci showed that I had a "Radeon HD 6700 Series" card.
