http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, recently my notebook have an issue. The monitor suddenly goes to pure white, and I cannot stop it. Sometimes it recovers after some tens of seconds, sometimes not. Today it even eats up my BIOS screen (the nice Toshiba logo). But it does respond to my keystroke (as I can tell by the HDD LED), and switching to virtual terminals (Ctrl+Alt+F1, say) will give me a blink, but I cannot take over the control as I do not know which process is causing the problem. Some other commands like "xset dpms force off" and changing backlit is still working while the screen is completely white. (Hardware)

Hello there,

I have recently switched to ubuntu 12.04, I used to be a windows user and my teacher convinced me to use ubuntu. I love it!

I apologize if this has been addressed. I've searched here and in google to no avail. Perhaps my google-fu is failing me, who knows.

Anyway, my problem isn't really an important one, just an annoyance. It seems that in (for lack of a better term) "pure" terminals; ie. if I hit crtl-alt-f1, I'm at a new session, or during a bootup/shutdown.

I have a problem with the monitor suspend.

No matter what settings I used in KDE power management monitor section, my screen would shut off in around 10 mins. I was trying for 30.

Hi folks...

I am have upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 in my laptop. After performing the reboot, the shell/console resolution went very high and the font size went too small. Please help me out to regain the old console shell resolution as in 9.04.

today am buy micromax funbook alpha and run 1 hour and then apper only white screen on booting or apps graphic screen .am try to restart and reset then now time also appear white screen

I ´ve been reading a lot before writting here but I can´t find a solution for my problem. I still stuck in a white screen with HTL logo.

I am S-ON with I know is a problem, PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL, HBOOT 1.27.000, UNLOCKED, ...

I´ve got ClockWorkMod Recovery and really....don´t know what else I can do....

I hope you can please please please help me.

Hey everyone this is my first post so plz forgive me if this has been reported before but I haven't found the solution yet while googling I want to completely get rid of any screen saver so I have removed xfce4-power-manager and xscreensaverI have also added in autostart xset -dpms & xset s no blank & xset s off & xset b off & setterm -powersave offSadly I still get a big whit

I am currently working on a splash screen with an image view. The problem is that when the splash screen is shown, there is a white border around the image. So that the splash screen shows the image with the white border around. I would like to remove the white border completely.
